'Wetlands' is a two panel (diptych) landscape painting showing a peaceful forest of white trees standing in reeds, by a lake. Rendered in rich greens, indigo, and deep blues with flattened perspective and symmetrical balance, the composition evokes quiet contemplation and references the aesthetic of Japanese woodblock prints.
'Wetlands' is one of a new series of forest paintings informed by the coastal lakes and lakeside forests of Arakwal, Bundjalung and Yuraygir National Parks in northern New South Wales. This work reflects my ongoing fascination with places where water meets land, spaces of quiet natural harmony.
Influenced by Japanese woodblock prints, 'Wetlands' uses simplified forms and gentle rhythms to convey a sense of timelessness and stillness.
