Jenny Ellis-Newman

Jenny Ellis-Newman is an award-winning artist living in Perth, WA and the past President of North Coast Art Club, Inc. based in Western Australia. Colour is deeply personal and can change how you feel within a space. Whether it is the art you bring into your home, or the walls and furniture you pair it with, how and where you add colour can be a daunting decision. Jenny hopes her art can assist you in this decision.

She has always loved painting and began painting professionally after retiring from university teaching fifteen years ago. Her formal art education consists of four years of art study at high school in Sydney followed by a semester at East Sydney Technical College.

Although her preferred medium is acrylic, she also experiments with mixed media and a variety of styles and subjects. She loves to play with bright colours and, in particular, those that are complementary, enjoying the brightness achieved by their juxtaposition. Her favourite subjects to paint are seascapes, birds, animals, abstracts and children but she is willing to paint other subjects when commissioned. She loves to take on challenges and extend her skills with a variety of subjects, often working on up to four paintings at a time as her mood takes her.

Her artwork has enjoyed generous exposure in numerous exhibitions and her most recent achievements were earning first place for my painting of an underwater reef and a highly commended in an exhibition in Victoria.

She has sold both interstate and internationally and her artwork hangs in public buildings, having been purchased by a property developer.
