'My Time Is Mine' explores the idea of passage — through physical space, inner landscapes and different stages of life. Two loosely defined figures emerge from and dissolve into layers of colour and gestural marks, suggesting different states or aspects of the self.
Built through an intuitive process of layering, obscuring and reworking, the painting moves between figuration and abstraction. Sweeping brushstrokes and fragmented forms create a sense of movement, while areas of intense blue, violet, pink and ochre shift between body and surrounding space. Earlier marks remain partially visible beneath the surface, creating a sense of depth and history.
The figures are never fully resolved, allowing gesture, colour and the physicality of the paint to carry as much expression as the human form itself.
