This exciting painting is a very expressively painted scene drawing on a small waterhole - Stubbs waterhole - at Arkaroola. . Arkaroola is a wildlife sanctuary in the north of the Flinders Ranges, South Australia. This is one of a series painted there at a week-long art workshop. This painting was started in the studio on site in Arkaroola and finished at home.Â
The painting started on paper, which has been mounted onto a canvas, including wrapped the edges of the canvas so the painting continues around the side. Many more layers of paint were added after so it is quite textured. It has been finished with extra layers of medium and varnish for protection.
