This is a second painting I have completed of the Midnight Oil House.
The story behind this famous abandoned 1920’s farmhouse is an interesting one. It is located in Burra, South Australia. It was first photographed by Australian photographer, Ken Duncan. Then in 1987, the house appeared on the album cover of Australian band, Midnight Oil titled “Diesel and Dust”. It has since become one of the most photographed ruins.
The landscape changes throughout the year. The first painting I completed was of the house in summer and this painting was during spring.
