Spirit of the Snowy Mountains

Inspired by the Snowy Mountains of Australia, this abstract landscape is a reflection on memory, stillness, and the quiet spiritual connection we can feel with the natural world. The distant peaks emerge through softened layers of mist, colour, and light, appearing almost like fragments of a remembered place — familiar, distant, and emotionally enduring.

Created in acrylic with mixed-media textures, including gauze and subtle applications of moulding paste, the surface carries a tactile, weathered quality that mirrors the rugged character of the mountains. These layered materials add depth and movement, allowing the landscape to feel less like a literal scene and more like a memory gradually revealing itself.

The cool blues and whites evoke calm, solitude, and reflection, while the gentle warmth within the sky suggests hope, presence, and light beyond the visible. The mountains stand quietly through change, becoming symbols of strength, endurance, and the memories that remain with us over time.

Spirit of the Snowy Mountains invites the viewer to pause and reconnect with something deeper — a place where landscape, memory, emotion, and spirit meet in silence.
