Self-Reference

Self-Reference explores the recursive nature of consciousness and the mind’s capacity to become both observer and observed. The portrait depicts my son, whose work in technology is matched by a deeply reflective and philosophical temperament. Inspired by our conversations about artificial intelligence and the profound questions it raises, the repeated forms suggest a mind continually reflecting upon itself while contemplating the future relationship between human consciousness and the technologies we create.
The blurring and iridescent passages evoke shifting perception, uncertainty, and the increasing difficulty of discerning what is authentic in a world shaped by AI-generated images, information, and digital realities.
