This piece takes us into the depths of cool and calm, through the thick undergrowth to a tranquil pond in the background. The journey is assisted by a palette of gentle greens from olive to palest teal, with a visceral accent of rich crimson that reminds me of mother Earth's beating heart below.
The "saplings" collection explores the contrasts in Australia’s woodland forests: the calm and stability lent by the clean verticals of sapling gum trees; against the texture and tangle of the forest floor. Without beginning or end, the tree trunks pull us into the continuum of the forest: past to future; earth to sky.
This piece is on FSC wood panel. Edges are painted in durable off-white/stone for protection and a finished look if hung unframed.
