This painting, Grey Goshawk – White Morph, is the seventh work in my Australian Raptor Series. I wanted to capture the rare and ethereal presence of the white morph goshawk—an apex predator that appears almost ghostlike against the vibrant colours of the Australian landscape. Its pale plumage transforms it from a fierce hunter into something serene and luminous. Perched in a flowering poinciana tree, the goshawk becomes a striking contrast of power and delicacy. The bird’s stillness is set against the vivid reds and lush greens of the foliage, creating a moment where nature’s intensity and tranquility coexist. The composition reflects the quiet authority of the goshawk while celebrating the richness of the environment it inhabits. Through this piece, I aim to honour the diversity and beauty of Australian raptors and to evoke a sense of respect for the wild places they embody. This series continues to deepen my appreciation for these remarkable birds, and I hope it invites viewers to share in that connection.
