Poppies - Two's Company

Poppies are one of my favourite flowers. Each year, my mother made sure to plant them early enough so that when spring arrived, our garden was full of them. They are a sure sign that summer is on the way.

I started this work intending to create an abstract painting, but before I got far into it, realism took over. It is bright, bold and colourful. To me it reflects my mood as summer approaches.
