This is one of many paintings of the iconic Aussie nut. Everyone loves these. All I have to do to be inspired, is take a walk around my bush yard and collect the gumnuts. They grow on the local Marri (Indigenous word for blood) trees which also ooze a beautiful red resin on hot days. The Red Tailed Black Cockatoos love the seeds inside the gumnut and sit in the gum trees dropping the nuts on the ground. You won't have to look hard to find the bug in this one. It is a Stink Bug. They are small and usually are camouflaged against the green leaves. Wouldn't you love to have this in your home? You'd impress your visitors. The earthy colours will suit every decor.
