Palmerston Railway Station and Yards circa 1895 is part of the “Disappearing Darwin Series” – celebrating the heritage of the city of Darwin and its environs. The scene depicts horses and buggies picking up and dropping off passengers on the Palmerston to Pine Creek railway which connected Port Darwin with the Pine Creek Gold Fields. The passengers platform is in the foreground. In the middle distance are the railway workshops. To the left is Stokes Hill and to the right Fort Hill. The first locomotive to use the railway was the Port Darwin, christened in early 1895. The location of the Palmerston Station in today’s Darwin would lie between Tiger Brennan Drive, McMinn Street east and Frances Bay Drive.
This painting is part of the Disappearing Darwin Series. The series is still intact. The painting can be sold separately.
The painting is framed under glass. It will be professionally packed and delivered.
