NECKLACE - "FULL MOON OWL"

I had to create "full moon owl" after seeing one flying down our lane in South Australia on a very hot mid summer's night and perch in the lower branches of Melaleuca trees.  The moon was full and bright that night, adding a mysterious quality to a memory that has not faded.  "Full Moon Owl" has been created by a hand painted polymer clay cabochon and a variety of quality Japanese metallic finish fine seed beads and tube beads.  The full moon has been placed behind the owl on the right hand side.  I have included different undulating waves of metallic seed bead colour in this "painting" to represent the different air temperature gradients that are often felt during a hot summer's night.

The necklace arms are created with semi precious Obsidian.  I have edged the medallion with black to add an air of mystery to this piece.  In reality, this is a small, complete bead painting which has captured unforgettable memories from that night.  Painting with paints or with beads, for me personally, the captured essence of my experience is pretty much the same.

Very easy to use toggle clasp.  The bail is intricate, bead woven in cimplimentary dark beads.  The backing is expensive black Ultrasuede for a lovely soft feel against the skin.

This is another one of a kind design.  I will not be replicating this at all.

MEDALLION:   Approximately 7 centimetres round.
