Murla Billabong monoprint

Inspired by the waterways and wetlands of the Gippsland Lakes in Victoria, Murla Billabong is a mixed media monoprint on paper.

Murla is the indigenous name for Lake Wellington in the Gippsland Lakes.  Murla Billabong captures the serene essence of a winding waterway, inviting viewers into a tranquil landscape. Dominated by rich purples and gold, the colours merge and flow together evoking the gentle currents of a billabong. The colours create a harmonious backdrop that resonates with the calming influence of nature while accents of shimmering gold and silver are suggestive of sunlight dancing on water.

Accents in white draw the eye and enhance the sense of movement, inviting viewers to lose themselves in the rhythmic ebb and flow of the patterns of the work. 

Murla Billabong celebrates the beauty of the natural world while also exploring the emotional connection we share with our environment and the tranquillity we draw from nature and the landscapes around us.

This work is unique - a gel plate print on paper, with handdrawn pen highlights.  It is presented in a square mat, in either white or black.  It fits a 20 x 20 cm picture frame.
