Low Tide by Sue Hill
This acrylic landscape is in portrait format and depicts the tranquil beauty of low tide at Nudgee Beach from an aerial perspective during sunset. Sue was inspired to paint this composition by the intricate patterns created by the receding tidal waters, revealing sandbanks and winding channels and reflective pools that contrast with the warm glow of the evening sky. The mud flats here are near Brisbane Airport and Sue aimed to celebrate the natural coastal environment while exploring colour, texture and atmosphere through the versatile medium of acrylics using a reference of flying into Brisbane at sunset. The aerial perspective emphasizes pattern, rhythm and movement. All of which lead the viewers eye through to the muted clouds showing the transition between day and night
