Lluita

Lluita (Catalan for Struggle) is based on a quiet street in Barcelona. What first attracted me was the interplay of strong Mediterranean light across the simple architectural forms. During the painting process, however, the composition resisted almost every decision, requiring a careful balance of light, shadow and structure before it finally came together. The result is less about the building itself than the way light transforms an ordinary place into something contemplative and enduring.
