Joy 5 - Country Wayside

This piece is from my ‘Joy’ collection celebrating the annual wattle bloom in my hometown, Canberra. In nature’s own festival of Spring, wattle trees stuff the landscape full of bright yellow blooms. The wattle are naturalised all through the suburbs, the roadsides and the hills. It’s a bit like Japan’s cherry blossom season, in yellow. The flowers are little spheres with rays of delicate stamen, like miniature suns. I can’t resist the joy of them.

This particular piece, I loved the pairing with white cherry blossoms in this country wayside, and the sense of sudden intense colours of Spring against the soft neutral tones of the dry grasses. It brings to mind cottage gardens and rustic farmhouse orchards. 

This is an original oil painting on a 2cm deep FSC approved wood panel. The edges are painted an off-white for a finished look, unframed. The piece is signed on the front and will arrive wired and ready to hang (including if unframed). You will also receive a hand-signed certificate of authenticity.
