Japanese Koi Fish Swimming in a Pond

Fish are considered good luck in some cultures and I often paint underwater scenes with turtles and other marine life. In this artwork, I was playing around with the turquoise background and it appealed to me as an ideal background for these fish swimming in the water. Koi have always appealed to me because of their bright colours and particularly the complementary colours, as evidenced in this painting.
