I love the colours Banksia turn in winter when the crown leaves start to turn golden yellow. There are so many different colours within the leaves and the marks from the insects biting the leaves and pieces missing from devouring creatures. I wanted to create a dynamic pattern full of vibrant colours. I use saturated colours and tones to define the shape rather than natural colours. The use of dark outlines further defines the shape of the leaves and flowers and gives it a stain glass effect.
