This was painted during the COVID19 times when travel plans were uncertain and I was going through past holiday photos. My eyes were immediately drawn to the rich contrasting colours of Gantheaume Point in Broome, Western Australia - on the traditional lands of the Yawuru people.
It is also a fascinating place due to the footprints of dinosaurs preserved in the sandstone dated in the early cretaceous period, about 130 million years ago. At very low tide, dinosaur footprints can be seen about 30 metres out to sea.Â
A most beautiful place to sit and gaze in wonder at the striking vista all around … and let you mind go back in history.Â
Â
This has been painted using a palette knife for the rocks using many layers and earthy colours to try and capture the colours and textures of the real thing!Â
COMMISSION REQUESTS: If you would like something similar, but in a different size or colours or framing options, I would be happy to discuss with you.
