Inspiration for this painting came from a Leonard Cohen song released in 1971 on the Songs of Love and Hate album. Lyrics in the song tell of betrayal and a love triangle; the song is a tale of adultery, loneliness, and regret. The song is ambiguous, and there is no real definitive answer as to what it is about. Likewise, with my painting, there are many varied interpretations as to what it is about. Viewers of same can fill in the gaps however they like.
