This is one of my many paintings of the iconic Aussie gumnut. All I have to do to be inspired is take a walk around my bush garden and collect some gumnuts. They grow on the local Marri (Indigenous word for blood) trees which ooze a red gum resin. The Red Tailed Black Cockatoos love the seeds inside the nut and sit in the trees dropping the nuts on the ground.Â
You will have to look hard to find the bug in this one. They are small and this one is pale green and looks like a small leaf.
