Confetti of the Mind

Some days thoughts scatter like confetti at a wedding, then they settle down to find their place inside my memories, waiting until called upon again to scatter around whatever I'm feeling, or thinking about, that day.

When I create a painting, I don't try to blank out those thoughts and memories, I let them loose, enjoying their impact on the artwork - some gentle and restful, others energetic even jarring.  All have a place and contribute to the final result.

This piece was created over many days, with different layers reflecting what was going on inside my mind at that time.  I love using a variety of materials, marks and gestures - inside this painting you will find sneaky peeks of acrylic paints, drawing materials, collage snippets from magazines, and from my own creation.  There are confetti dots of course, texture and scribbly marks, but also intentionally softly painted areas.  I know it's done when the painting tells me there is nothing more to be said.

The final painting has warmth and impact, but is also calming and settled.  It would look great in an entry hallway, a living space or dining room, anywhere you want to elevate the vibe and to have the viewers intrigued by the myriad of details hidden within.
