Box Office

Box Office is a compact yet richly textured abstract that explores structure through layered blocks of colour. Built from thick, gestural applications of paint, the composition resembles a patchwork of intersecting forms—stacked, pressed, and balanced against one another.

Earthy ochres and muted greens sit alongside passages of cobalt blue, soft pink, chalky white, and inky black. The palette feels both grounded and lively, with brighter accents punctuating more subdued tones. Each rectangular or cross-like shape retains the physical trace of its making; brushstrokes are visible, edges are imperfect, and the surface carries a tactile, almost sculptural quality.

The title hints at commerce and exchange, yet the work remains resolutely abstract. Instead, it suggests compartments, transactions of colour, or fragments assembled into a cohesive whole.
