Birth of a Golden Dragon

Birth of a Golden Dragon is an abstract meditation on fortune, vitality, and the momentum of “becoming”. The interplay of radiant red and shimmering gold evokes both cultural symbolism and personal aspiration – red as the pulse of life and energy, gold as the promise of prosperity and achievement.

The gestural textures suggest a dragon in emergence, not as a literal form but as a force—something powerful, auspicious, and in motion. The sweeping arcs hint at pathways, currents, or trajectories, echoing the idea of success as a journey rather than a fixed destination.

Walking through Sydney’s Chinatown I was struck by the colour and vabrancy, as well as the depth of art, music, and literature there. I wanted to present some of that energy.

This work carries an intention beyond aesthetics: it is an invocation of possibility. For me, painting it was a way of channeling optimism, determination, and faith in transformation – qualities I hope resonate with those who encounter it.
