Beyond the Blue Gum

‘Beyond the Blue Gum’ encapsulates the scenery of Larapuna / Bay of Fires on the north-eastern coast of Tasmania. The acrylic painting on canvas highlights the vibrant lichen covered rocks of the bay, in a stunning contrast to the colours of the ocean that surround the rocks. The clouds in the background are a serene display of soft pink and yellow, allowing the sunrays to shine through. The native Tasmanian Blue Gum was incorporated to pay tribute to the state’s floral emblem, adding an additional element of interest to the painting.
