Inspired by an Emmylou Harris song, This painting grew out of a desire to work within calm while allowing subtle tensions to surface. I was thinking about what lies beneath moments of stillness — the emotional undercurrents, the half-formed thoughts, the memories that drift in and out of awareness without announcing themselves.
The blue became a space of quiet attention, something expansive and inward-looking, while the curved lines suggest movement that cannot be fully contained or stopped. The flashes of pink arrived intuitively, almost as interruptions — moments of feeling or recognition that break through without warning.
Rather than directing the image toward a fixed meaning, I allowed the painting to unfold as a kind of listening exercise. It reflects my ongoing interest in how perception is layered, how we carry unseen currents within us, and how painting can hold both stillness and motion at the same time.
