Before the Rain

It's that moment when everything is still. The world seems to stop and you can hear your own heartbeat. That luscious pause before the first drop that becomes the deluge.

I painted this while in that moment of stillness, it was metaphorical for the deluge I knew would come. But for that brief moment with the clouds looming I cast my gaze to the flowers still daring to bloom, to add color to the landscape as if to boldly face the storm and make a peaceful stand.
