‘Becoming’

“With every canvas, I discover a little more of myself.”

Inspired by the ever-changing colours and textures of Australia’s salt lakes, Becoming reflects both the beauty of these landscapes and the quiet evolution of my own painting practice.

Earthy burnt oranges, ochres and deep greens meet softer blush pinks, ivory and pale neutrals. The contrast between the darker, textured passages and the lighter, flowing areas creates movement across the canvas, reminiscent of the intricate patterns formed where earth, salt and water meet.

Created using a palette knife, the painting has allowed me to explore texture, layering and more expressive marks. There’s a confidence in the contrasts and a freedom in the way the colours move across the surface.

I’m beginning to understand that finding my style isn’t about arriving at a particular destination. It’s about experimenting, trusting my instincts and allowing each painting to teach me something new.

For me, Becoming represents that process — a gradual evolution, shaped by the landscapes I love and the things I’m still discovering along the way.
