This original mixed media painting captures the striking presence of a sulphur-crested cockatoo mid-display, its wings partially extended and crest illuminated against a richly textured fluid acrylic background.

The painting began as an abstract acrylic pour, creating organic movement and depth. The detailed cockatoo was later carefully layered over this dynamic surface, blending realism with abstraction. The luminous yellows and earthy greens echo the bird’s natural habitat while giving the piece a contemporary edge.

Inspired by the vibrant birdlife of Brisbane, this artwork celebrates the bold personality and unmistakable silhouette of one of Australia’s most iconic native birds.
