This work is inspired by the song "Willin" by Little Feat, and my own road trips across the US. The immense vistas, endless skies and the loneliness of the road are aspects that I have tried to capture here and reflect what is a moving and beautiful song. I encourage you to check it out if you're not familiar.
The painting explores the tiny footprint that humans make within the immensity of nature and the contrast that is created by the lights and colours that we impose. Yet in the same instance we have moved on and the solitude and darkness returns. The scale of the truck against the background is intended to emphasise this as well as the loneliness and vulnerability of life on the road.Â
