Im not sure if it's Spring or the recent visit to the National Art School in Sydney to see the fabulous Margaret Olley paintings that have got me painting wildflowers. These are a watercolour and ink painting of imaginary flowers based on plants in my garden and bushwalks in the Blue Mountains. I like to paint on 350g cold press paper with a bit of texture and use a variety of brushes, including a rigger brush for the fine lines. I used Windor and Newton professional grade watercolour
and black Japanese Sumi Ink. This picture is unframed with a white cardboard bevil mat.
