This was painted from an old Scottish Poetry book picked up in Leakeys bookshop in Inverness.....Written by Peter Duncan 1896.
"Up among the waving woodlands,
Down along the burnie’s side,
Scatter’d o’er the mountain summits,
Growing graceful in their pride;
’Mong the bonnie blooming clover,
Where the breezes breathe so low,
Ankle-deep in purple heather,
Where the wild flowers grow.
Peeping under long green rushes,
Like stars in midnight sky,
The meek and modest violet
Looks forth to catch the eye.
By the margin of the streamlet,
Bloom the daisies white as snow;
Oh! to wander in the places
Where the wild flowers grow!"
