What Endures is a painting about transformation, resilience and the passage of time. My daughter sits within a stark geological landscape beside ancient petrified wood, its fractured rings recording immense change. Fragmented colour and painterly marks suggest memories and experiences embedded beneath the surface. The painting asks what remains, transforms and endures when everything else has changed.
I am a Brisbane-based painter whose work explores the tension between the fragile illusion of normalcy and human control, and the inevitability of time and mortality. Within this duality, we struggle to find meaning in our brief existence. My paintings draw on memory, transformation, fear and resilience, using the figure within theatrical, psychologically charged environments to explore what lies beneath the surface of ordinary life.
