Layers of pitch black, from buttery pastes to rough acrylic created a backdrop of a darkness that is forced to interact with light.
The veering character that dominates the painting is in bronze oil stick, I painted with great catharsis while listening to Brian Eno, something about overcoming.
The red ladder has 31 rungs, painted with a toothpick, using an oil paint fusion of scarlett and a touch of fluro pink to make it more demanding. i painted this while listening to a romantic string section from the soundtrack of Wuthering Heights.
The final depiction lifts a room with a strange combination of warmth, curiosity and starkness.
