Unfinished Business is a figurative abstract oil painting exploring the things we carry with us when relationships, experiences or conversations remain unresolved.
A group of loosely defined figures fills the upper part of the panting, suggesting people caught together in a shared space, yet each appear absorbd in their own thoughts. Â Below them, a collection of compartmentalised areas, objects and fragments hints at memories, possessions and emotions waiting to be sorted through.Â
The restricted palette of blues and whites gives the work a cool, introspective atmosphere, while touches of green and darker marks add tension and movement. Faces emerge and disappear within the layered paint, leaving room for the viewer to decide what each person might be feeling or witholding. Unfinished Business is both personal and universal: a reflecton on what remains when something has not quite been resolved, put away or let go, and still asks for our attention.Â
