The Locals

I photographed this mother kangaroo and Joey in a paddock outside of Bannockburn Victoria.
The curiosity of the youngster against the wariness of the mother was a great subject which I feel comes through well in the work.

As the local industrial estate expands the kangaroos of the area are getting pushed further from town, a fate which is getting played out in many places across the country.

The colours of this art work are very earthy and the sides of the canvas remain white.
The tones employed, particularly of the joey, I think would look great with a natural timber float frame. This painting does not come with the external timber frame depicted in some of the images - this was for illustrative purposes only.
