In this painting, I wanted to explore my own sense of nostalgia and memory, looking back at the community landscapes shaped by traditional milk bars and corner stores. By placing everything against a dark, moody background, I tried to recreate the feeling of looking at illuminated shop windows at dusk, casting a warm, inviting light onto the street. The stylized, stacked circular and organic forms are my nod to retro ice cream cones, confectionery jars, and the tactile textures of old-school storefront signage that I remember so well. I used heavy, deep black and dark blue lines to build a structural framework that mirrors the architecture of neighbourhood street corners, while the detailed interior patterns are meant to feel like fragmented glimpses into shelves packed with childhood treats. Through these shapes and warm tones, I hope to capture the distinct, comforting atmosphere of a local corner store—transforming a familiar urban fixture into a deeply personal visual memory.
