Place Portraits are a series that reimagines familiar Australian streetscapes and regional landmarks.
Each work begins with my original architectural photographs, layered with local botanicals and carefully refined in Photoshop to blur the boundary between photography and illustration, creating images that feel both documentary and dreamlike.
A sense of yesteryear, quirky details, and unexpected compositions give each portrait a playful character whilst maintaining a strong connection to place. Architecture is decluttered and isolated against soft pastel hued backdrops creating a calm tone that contrasts with the detail of the architecture.
The final piece is printed on premium textured fine art paper to enhance the effect. Each print has a digital artist signature along the bottom right-hand corner and a white border for framing.
SILVERTON
Located just outside Broken Hill, this iconic historic outback Aussie town has a scattering of relic stone cottages, an old church and iconic pub. It’s famous for the setting of Mad Max 2, with a museum and a few art galleries based on this theme.
The vibe here is desert silence, red dust, and random finds. A pack of donkeys were happily strolling the main street and didn’t mind a pat.
Thank you for collecting my work.
