Their familiar presence allows me to tell deeply human stories without painting people.
Returning Home centres on a magpie suspended in the moment before landing. For me, it's a hopeful moment, the opposite of being lost.
It is the instant where flight ends and belonging begins.
The work explores the feeling of finding your way back: to home, to those we love, or to ourselves.
Through layered marks, light and movement, I wanted to capture that quiet moment of arrival, where uncertainty gives way to connection.
