Night Flight To Sirius

Night Flight To The Dog Star is about the dogs returning to Sirius when they leave this earth. I have always found it comforting to think about them in their happy hunting grounds. They have come to earth to give us love if we let them, and their lives are relatively short. We often grieve deeply when they have gone. So as the world continues in it's business, much is happening in the unseen worlds.  

The oil paint is slightly impasto (thick). The sky is deep blue, black and purple -  and hellishly difficult to photograph and convey it's depth! The underpainting was created in oranges to allow a warmth to emanate through the darks, and the edges retain this orange.  The city scene with cars and buildings are symbolic of our chockablock lives that often don't allow us the time to stop and reflect (we must take that time - it is never given to us).
