“Grassgunyah morning.” As children, we spent many of our school holidays at Grassgunyah( my grandparents emmigrated from Europe early last century and as homage to Australia's indigenous people used the word "gunyah- grass hut" in their farm name.), our ancestral home in Balmoral, Western Victoria.
Mornings were consistently picturesque—filled with fresh, bright light that heralded the promise of a new day.
I have a profound appreciation for impressionism, particularly in its exploration of light and shadow. The allure of this image lies in the ethereal glow surrounding the sheep, which appear almost backlit, with light filtering through the trees.
The painting evokes a sense of peace and tranquillity, embodying the quintessence of the Australian landscape.
