Going Home

Going Home captures a moment form the mail run tour we did a few years ago out of Coober Pedy in outback Australia. We'd stopped for dinner at the William Creek Hotel and were heading home when the sky lit up with this incredible sunset. The colours washed over the bonnet of the vehicle and that reflection has stayed with me ever since.

The balloon is a bold presence in the painting, capturing that gently nostalgic pull of being led back to where you belong and how good it feels to head home.
