The Australian Steam Navigation Company left a significant heritage legacy through buildings like this one in Sydney. This architectural landmark showcases the Anglo-Dutch and Victorian styles with the more contemporary Sydney Opera House in the background. The ASN Co. building was constructed in 1884-1885, and the Sydney Opera House took fourteen years to build and was opened in 1973. I painted this piece as an exercise in quiet architecture and pared-down storytelling. I wanted both the steeple and the sails of the Opera House to feel both structural and slightly abstract to represent the balance in a modern city where the old meets the new in harmony.
The edges of this painting are painted, so no frame is required.
The painting is signed on the bottom, left side of the frame.
The colours may vary slightly.
