"Curlews" is an original painting by Laurine Field. Camouflaged against the trees and amongst the mulch, the gaze of the birds holds the viewer. The stillness of these birds seems to contribute to the painting having a life of its own ... as if the wind will blow and their feathers will ruffle or one of the birds will shift their position. This painting celebrates the way the birds and the community coexist, each observing the other as they go about their lives.

About the artist:  Laurine paints images of bushland, birds, botanic gardens, flowers and clouds. She has a Master of Creative Arts (Painting), works part-time as an art teacher and has been painting for thirty years. Nature connection, colour, and lifeforce are key drivers in her painting practice. Paintings have an energising and peaceful atmosphere.
