Hakeas are my favourite Australian species. They grow all over Australia and in some of the harshest of conditions ranging from extreme desert temperatures to the cold southern coastal winds.
This wildflower grows in the shallow soils on granite peaks at Cape le Grand, Frenchmans Peak, Condingup Peak and Cape Arid east of Esperance. It battles frosty temperatures and cold coastal winds.
I love the detail of their Banksia type petals which attract all sorts of pollinators.
"Coastal Hakea clavata" is finished with a protective varnish and is ready to hang in your home.
