Chromatic Fragmentations

‘Chromatic Fragmentation’ is an  abstract expressionist artwork that presents a layered composition of vivid red, coral, teal, green, and black forms. Rich texture and varied mark-making create depth, while slender blue lines and pale geometric shapes guide the eye across the surface. The interplay of saturated color and shadowy silhouettes gives the piece a dynamic, modern presence. It would bring expressive energy and visual interest to a contemporary living space. 

This is a forceful acrylic painting built around a collision of colour and shapes that compete across the canvas. I consider its strongest quality is the physical contrast between dense, opaque colour fields and more worked passages where scraping, drips, ridges, and exposed-looking transitions create a sense of accumulated decisions. The painting has the visual charge associated with my interest in colour relationships, but it also introduces a more recognisable suggestion of figures, structures, or passing silhouettes than a purely geometric composition.
