Number 3 in the Haystack Rock series.
A series of photos by Susan Roghair inspired this painting. They depict the rugged coastline of Cannon Beach in Oregon, USA, on a misty morning. Even though the weather was not ideal, there were visitors galore who were simply strolling along the beach or sitting and taking in the magnificent scenery. Some were even posing for photographs using props they had brought along. The largest rock is aptly named Haystack Rock and is a seasonal haven for tufted puffins. According to Susan Roghair, the Haystack Rock is a 235-foot sea stack with a 'Marine Garden' of tidal pools at its base full of life from crabs and starfish to mussels and anemone.
The work is painted using professional standard watercolours on 300 gsm watercolour paper which is 100% cotton and acid free.
