The Australian native plant, Banksia, is a fascinatingly unique flora, found in a wide variety of types. This particular variety is a coastal one that also grows locally in my area, and so I placed it in this painting with a Blue Mountains background context. The resulting colour contrasts are striking, and the sculptural effect of sunlight and shadow make this artwork a vibrant piece that would brighten any room.
