Ballerina, Becoming Light by Lumière

Becoming Light explores movement, grace, and the quiet moment where the body seems to dissolve into light itself. Painted on timber panel, delicate layers of acrylic, chalk paint, graphite and white acrylic pencil are enriched with metallic pigment powder and luminous gold leaf, allowing the figure to emerge as though suspended between presence and memory. Depicted in a graceful back cambré, the ballerina arches towards the light, creating a sense of openness, surrender and transcendence. The softened palette and delicate mark-making evoke a feeling of weightlessness, as if the dancer exists between earth and illumination. Rather than capturing a performance, the work reflects a moment of transformation, where movement becomes stillness and the ballerina appears to dissolve into light.
